How to Clean Bridal Shoes

Whether your bridal shoes develop unsightly stains prior to your wedding or you want to keep them clean after your big day, learning the correct steps is important. The majority of wedding shoes are made out of satin, which requires special methods. Find out how to clean your bridal shoes effectively by following a few easy steps.

  1. First: Remove surface stains

Sometimes, it is possible to remove mild stains with just a few minutes of work. Try to softly wipe your shoes with a dry cloth. Alternatively, use a toothbrush with soft bristles. Do not press any dirt or debris into the shoes as you work, because doing so makes the stains more difficult to remove.

  2. Second: Dispose of ingrained stains

Stains that are set into your shoes require additional cleaning. Fill a container with cool water, and then add a few drops of dish soap. Wet either your toothbrush or a sponge with this mixture. While stroking your shoes gently and swiftly, move with the weave of the fabric. Never go in circles. Repeat this process as often as necessary until the stains are completely gone.

  3. Third: Try alternative methods

If you continue to experience difficulty with eliminating stains, use a different method to clean your shoes. It is safe to apply seltzer water or small amounts of baby shampoo, because both substances are mild. Soak a cotton ball with either liquid, and wipe your bridal shoes. To avoid developing new stains, dry the shoes before you wear them the next time.
